Department launches new STEM pedagogy seminar series

A primary science and technology lesson in progress

The Department of Curriculum and Instruction has launched a termly seminar series on STEM pedagogy, open to serving teachers and student teachers alike. The series looks at how design and coding activities can be integrated into primary science and mathematics lessons without crowding out the subject matter itself.

Later sessions turn to the assessment of enquiry-based work, and to a more basic question raised by several speakers: what makes a STEM task worth its place in an already crowded timetable.

Sessions are held at the Tai Po campus and online, and partner schools have been invited to send teachers along.
