Teaching across the Faculty is organised around supervised practice, small-group tutorials and close contact between students and staff. Every initial teacher education programme is built around a structured cycle of practicum placement, on-campus seminar and one-to-one supervision, so that theory is tested against a real classroom before it is examined in an assignment.
Programmes are reviewed on a rolling cycle against the University's Outcome-Based Approach to teaching and learning, and staff are supported through the Faculty's own teaching development scheme to try new methods, from case-based learning in Psychology to studio-based design tasks in Curriculum and Instruction.
