The Department of Curriculum and Instruction and colleagues from across the Faculty held a joint forum on curriculum reform, bringing practitioners and researchers into the same room to compare notes on how reform is experienced on the ground.
Discussion centred on the pace at which curriculum change has been introduced, the room schools genuinely have to adapt a curriculum to local circumstances, and how reform decisions land on the middle leaders who must translate policy into subject-panel planning.
Organisers said the exchange between school-based and university-based perspectives would feed into future curriculum research, and that the forum would be repeated next academic year.
