The Department hosted a half-day forum on school self-evaluation, bringing together principals, Education Bureau officers and researchers to ask a blunt question: does the current cycle of self-evaluation and external review actually improve teaching?
Around 120 participants attended. The discussion focused on the reporting burden carried by middle leaders, and on whether schools have enough time between review cycles to act on what they find. A summary of the proceedings will be published in the Department’s policy briefing.
