The Faculty of Education and Human Development welcomed delegates from across the region and further afield to a two-day symposium on teacher education, held at the Tai Po campus. Professor Leung Chi Keung, Dean of the Faculty, opened proceedings with a call for closer dialogue between teacher educators and schools.
Sessions covered the design of the practicum, the mentoring of beginning teachers in their first years of service, and how teacher education programmes might respond to a changing school-age population. Speakers drew on research and on classroom practice in roughly equal measure.
Colleagues from all five departments took part, alongside representatives of partner schools and kindergartens. Organisers said the symposium would inform the continuing review of the Faculty's teacher education programmes.
