Professor Lam Sze Wing heads the Department of Psychology. Her research follows children through change rather than photographing them once: she runs longitudinal studies of self-regulation and early social development, tracking Hong Kong cohorts from the final kindergarten year through the first years of primary school.
Much of that work is done in partnership with local schools and families, and she has written on what happens when a developmental finding meets a class of thirty. She teaches developmental psychology on the undergraduate programme and supervises doctoral students working on early childhood cognition and the primary transition.
