Message from the Head

Psychology sits slightly awkwardly in a Faculty of Education, and we think that is the point. A finding about attention or attachment is interesting; a finding a Primary 3 teacher can act on before Friday is useful. This Department is organised around getting from the first to the second without losing anything on the way.

Our staff run laboratory studies and they also sit in staffrooms. If you are a teacher, an educational psychologist, a parent or a prospective student, there is a way into the work here.

Psychology seminar series announced

The Department of Psychology has announced a seminar series on developmental and educational psychology, running through the current term. Topics include attention and working memory in the classroom, adolescent wellbeing, and the use of assessment to inform tiered support for pupils in schools.
