The Bachelor of Education (Honours) in Early Childhood Education prepares students to become qualified kindergarten teachers and early years professionals. It suits secondary school leavers and other entrants who wish to work directly with young children and their families, and who want a degree that leads to formal teacher qualification recognised by the Education Bureau.
Structure and Duration
The programme is offered full-time over four years. Part-time study is not normally available at this level, as the degree includes supervised teaching practice that is organised around a full-time academic calendar. The curriculum totals around 120 credit points across compulsory education courses, subject specialisms, general education courses and field experience. Students typically take four to five courses each term, combining lectures, tutorials, workshops and school-based placements.

- A satisfactory result at interview, which normally includes an assessment of suitability for working with young children
- Non-local qualifications are considered individually against equivalent standards
Career Prospects
Graduates are eligible to register as qualified kindergarten teachers in Hong Kong. Many go on to teach in kindergartens and child care centres, while others move into curriculum development, early childhood centre leadership, or further study at postgraduate level in education or related fields.
