Dr Ng Wai Kuen is a registered educational psychologist and teaches on the Department programmes in assessment and school-based support. His research asks a deliberately narrow question with wide consequences: what actually happens to a psychological recommendation after it is written.
He works with secondary school guidance teams on tiered support and adolescent help-seeking, evaluates school-based counselling programmes running in Hong Kong schools, and supervises trainee educational psychologists on placement. He also convenes the Department clinic where students meet referred cases under supervision.
